Hey everyone! We’re now pretty seasoned with the Diet Breakdown spiel over here – for those of you who are new, we breakdown diets as simply as possible, just presenting the facts. I don’t necessarily believe in following a strict diet, but I know that it works really well for others. As always, I follow a pretty strict ‘to each their own’ mentality over here; as long as you’re being smart and sensible, you do you! We hope you find it useful!
The Atkins Diet is the original Low-Carb diet and has been around for 40 years.
How It Works
The Atkins diet follows a four stage program, beginning with a strict low-carb, high protein intake, gradually building it up throughout the program but without gaining weight. The Atkins diet is predominantly designed for weight-loss in a similar fashion to Keto or Paleo where calories aren’t counted, the weight is lost through restriction of foods. It is believed that due to the high amount of protein, that it suppresses your appetite and therefore you end up eating less.

- Vegetable Oil
- High Carb Fruits & Vegetables
- Trans fats
- Diet & Low at Foods
- Assists in weight loss.
- Improves blood sugar and cholesterol.
- Don’t have to worry about calorie or macro counting.
- Atkins products are available in many major supermarkets which makes snacking easier.
- As it has stages, it doesn’t become boring as it changes over time.
- When you first start cutting carbs, you can become unwell due to the changes in your body.
- High protein diets can cause issues with your kidneys or cause Osteoporosis.
