I spent over 5 years living in Launceston, so I’d consider myself fairly well-versed on what dining options are available. While it indicates that business isn’t perhaps going all that well, there are always new places opening and closing and it means that many new places don’t make the lists!

Tasmania is home to SO much fresh produce, that finding a healthy feed is usually possible – if you know where to go. We will share everything we can in due course!

To start with, here are our top 9 picks for a delicious, fresh and healthy breakfast in Launceston, so that eating out doesn’t mean totally reversing your hard work (or you can have a totally delicious dinner!). Start the day right and head to one of these places for your breakfast!

2. Elaia Cafe

Elaia is one of the best places in Launceston for a group, as there is always something for everyone on the menu. Breakfast is no exception! With eggs and veggies or muesli type breakfasts, you’ll be sorted for any weather. Breakfast runs until 3pm, so even if you choose to have a sleep in – Elaia has you covered!


3. Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm Cafe

Located just outside of Launceston is the iconic Raspberry Farm, where you can try so many dishes with raspberries – some you’d predict, and some you definitely wouldn’t. While it will be tempting to try the waffles or pancakes once you’ve made the effort to visit, there are some healthier options on their menu too. Smoked salmon & eggs, mushrooms & spinach, or if you’re more interested in the raspberries (duh!) there is a raspberry smoothie bowl too!


4. Harvest Community Farmer’s Market

If you’re keen to try a few little bits and wander around the best market Launceston has to offer – head to the Harvest Community Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning. Here you can pick up some fresh fruit, some healthy snacks from the stall holders and take it for a walk down to City Park and have a delicious & affordable picnic! Here you’ll find the current stallholders.

Bryher uses incredible Tasmanian produce where possible, so you can ensure what you’re eating is fresh and delicious. Their menu is ever changing to reflect this. If you’re after a beautiful sit down breakfast – this is where to go.

The Metz has delicious smoothie bowls, eggs and other breakfast bits cooked to order. There’s something for everyone, so even if you’re the only one trying to have a healthy breakfast – everyone will leave happy!

Here you’ll find the classic smashed avo (and also un-smashed, if you’re that way inclined),Β  eggs, veggies and granola are all awesome healthy options on their menu.
