Keto | Diet Breakdown

Hey everyone! This is the first post of this series – Diet Breakdown. As someone who has done a bunch of research on every type of diet, fad diet & trend – tried some and scoffed at a whole lot of others, I wanted to create a space where the facts are simple. I don’t necessarily believe in following a strict diet, but I know that it works really well for others. As always, I follow a pretty strict ‘each to their own’ mentality over here, as long as you’re being smart & sensible, you do you!


The latest trend that we’re seeing everywhere right now is ‘Keto’ or the Ketogenic Diet.


How It Works

The Keto diet is a high fat, medium protein and low carbohydrate diet. The aim is to get your body to a state of ketosis where it burns fats rather than carbs.


What You Eat More Of

  • Fish & Seafood
  • Eggs
  • Meat
  • Natural Fats
  • Cheese
  • Above Ground Vegetables


What You Eat Less Of

  • Fruit
  • Potato
  • Pasta
  • Sugars
  • Low-Fat Products
  • Grains
  • Processed Food





  • Consuming too much fat can negatively impact your liver
  • Consuming too much protein can overload your kidneys
  • Because you’re not having much fibre, you can get constipation.
  • As it is such a strict diet, many people find that once coming off the diet, they put weight back on easily.

Blueberry spice muffins. . @proteinbreadco has been a staple since starting Keto, they have definitely been a big part of my success by providing such awesome options for us Keto peeps. . 1 cup @proteinbreadco pancake mix 5 eggs 1 TB mixed spice 1 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp cinnamon 60g blueberries 50g stevia. . Simply mix all ingredients bar the blueberries with a hand mixer till smooth, we cut the blueberries in half and used 5 whole blueberries per muffin, bringing the carbs to 2g per muffin! How good is that!. .
