When going out for a dinner or date night, it can be hard to find places that offer good healthier alternatives on the menu – other than the side salad. Sometimes, you just don’t want to be that person that orders the salad! Here are 10 of our picks for date night, where you can go and have a proper meal, that won’t make you feel so sluggish afterwards!
1. Yong Green Food | Fitzroy
Yong Green Food specializes in free-from foods, with a full vegetarian & vegan menu. With many of the dishes, you are able to choose your own meat alternative (whether that be tofu, faux meats or tempeh) and they are easily modifiable. They have a thoughtful range of burgers, Asian inspired dishes and sides that you can pair with their selection of bio-dynamic wines and organic beers.

8. The Cornish Arms | Brunswick
One of my personal favourites! This is perfect for date night, especially if your partner doesn’t necessarily want to eat healthier options. While this is standard pub grub with all the favourites, they also have the vegetarian and vegan options of these using mock meats. It’ll be hard to choose the vegan chicken salad or slaw bowl when you see the other options – trust me!
